Many people suffer from teeth grinding or Bruxism.  Bruxism occurs when you tightly clench your top and bottom teeth together, or when you grind your teeth, sliding them back and forth over each other.   Some people experience teeth grinding in their sleep and are unaware that they suffer from teeth grinding.  Here are some symptoms that may be indicators of Bruxism.

  • Anxiety, stress, and tension
  • Depression
  • Earache
  • Eating disorders
  • Headache
  • Hot, cold, or sweet sensitivity in the teeth
  • Insomnia
  • Sore or painful jaw

If you have experienced any of these symptoms, ask your dentist about being tested for Bruxism.  If your dentist determines that you grind your teeth, they can create a night guard which will protect your teeth from damage.
